Wildcats come up short vs. Northmen
PETOSKEY-The Alpena boys soccer team came up just short of victory on Tuesday, losing to Petoskey 2-1.
Tommy Hein scored for the Wildcats with an assist from Kyle Supiran to cut the lead to 2-1 with 24 minutes left in the game. Alpena pressed the rest of the way, but couldn’t net the equalizer.
“We out-chanced them and had the five best chances of the game before they scored. They capitalized on their chances a bit better than we did,” Alpena coach Tim Storch said. “It was a game between two evenly matched teams and the difference was paper-thin.”
After a scoreless first half, the Northmen scored two quick goals within the first 15 minutes before Hein cut the lead in half.
Alpena (8-5-1, 2-4 Big North) hosts Tawas at 5 p.m. tonight.
