Costigan, Tawas top Alcona soccer
TAWAS-The Alcona soccer team came up just short on Thursday against Tawas, losing to the Braves 2-1 at Tawas High School.
Kyle Costigan, who netted a hat trick against the Tigers last week, scored the game-winner Thursday finding the back of the net on a penalty kick with five minutes left.
Tawas scored with two minutes left in the first half to take a 1-0 halftime lead and Alcona’s Jeff Schram tied the game with a goal midway through the second half with an assist from Mitchel Havercroft.
“The boys played well. They got that late call there, but they knew they had a game on their hands,” Alcona coach Tim Munro said. “We carried the play (at times) and had some chances.”
Alcona keeper Connor McCoy made 18 saves.
Alcona falls to 9-9-1 on the season.
