Wildcat wrestlers continue to thrive

The Alpena wrestling team brought home its highest medal count so far this season after competing in the Traverse City West Holiday Classic on Saturday. The team had five individual champions. Ethan Kowalski (113), Haley Stenz (125), and Hudson Derry (175) kept their winning streaks going with their third straight individual first-place finishes and Carolyn Parker (100) and Madelyn Farley (155) also topped the podium with undefeated performances on the day.

Brody Oliver (165) and Westin Mitchell (190) picked up three wins each on their way to third- place finishes.

Matthew Kowalski (132) and Owen Zitlau (175) earned fourth-place finishes at the tournament.

This was the last tournament of 2025 for the Wildcat wrestlers., but the girls will kick off 2026 on Friday at the Gladwin Girls Invite and the team will begin its Big North Conference duals in Cadillac on Jan.7.
