Richard Brown Trailblazer Award
This year, the Richard Brown Trailblazer Award, in memory of Brown, who passed away at the age of 102, will be given to longtime Hillman maintenance and grounds supervisor Randy Herbek. He oversaw the athletic facilities at the high school from the beginning of the facilities being built until his retirement in 2021. Hillman’s athletic facilities are still known as one of the better facilities in the area to this day, and Herbek was a big part of blazing that trail. The Richard Brown Trailblazer Award honors athletes/individuals from a distant generation that helped blaze the trail for past and present athletes at Hillman High School.
The Hillman High School Sports Hall of Fame would like to invite all who would like to attend the induction ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 4, at Hillman High School, with doors opening at 1 p.m. and the ceremony starting at 2 p.m. The new inductees will also be honored at halftime of the Hillman football game to go along with the other homecoming activities on Friday, Oct. 3, hosting Atlanta. All community members, family, and friends are welcome to attend.
