The biased national news needs a catch-tray

March 8 was the most unbelievably comical night I have ever seen on the NBC Nightly News. Some kitchen toasters have a catch-tray underneath to catch the unwanted debris. With the biased, leftist anti-white deluge of disinformation, distortion, and lies the new TVs should have a catch-tray like toasters. My reason is, what the national news is feeding us daily, the tray would need to be 10 times larger than the TV. Fond memories of Alpena’s 1965-66 team

The recent photo of the 1965-66 Wildcat basketball team brought back a fond memory of Alpena sports. It was March 1966 and the underdog Wildcats were in the hunt for a state championship. I was a student at ACC. On game nights, my roommate and I would listen to WATZ AM radio to catch the tournament basketball games. Local mission trip efforts are commendable

Part of good journalism is publishing opinion pieces from readers as “Letters to the Editor.” The Alpena News does this at least weekly. I write in reference to such a letter published on Saturday, March 4 entitled, “Questions about ‘God’s love’ in Belize.” Although not connected to Immanuel Lutheran Church, I feel it necessary to supply some correction to disinformation in the writer’s letter. Trips offer new experiences, perspectives

My response to Mr. Shuman: Wow. I made three trips to Guaymas in Sonora, Mexico: (1) with the VOSH group (Volunteer Optometric Service to Humanity). Each volunteer had two suitcases, one filled with eyeglasses (extras were left for next time); (2) helping build an orphanage, after traveling (5 drivers, 10 others) on a school bus loaded with donations; (3) helping drive a decommissioned ambulance donated to the Mexican Rotary Club. Grateful for generosity of local community

Let me start by saying I, as well as the area veterans (approximately 2,500 in Alpena alone), are grateful for the way the people of this area stepped up and generously contributed to a new DAV van to transport veterans to downstate appointments. At that time, there were three of us taking turns driving, then COVID hit, and we lost two of our drivers. We are once again asking for people to help get these veterans to their appointments.
