Accountability needed in elk dump matter
A letter to Philip R. Roycraft:
Sir, I will again remind you that after months of appealing FOIA Requests, and documents, we were able to receive heavily redacted confirmation that [you] were involved in the Justice Department’s requirement that Waste Management “Divest” after Waste Management Inc. had purchased elk dump I assumed with the intention of “mothballing” the disposal capacity in the unlikely event that the capacity would be needed in the future. You sir, are indeed involved both personally and in representation of the State of Michigan in this matter.
I will further remind you that you have been provided with results of scientific studies conducted in Europe that confirm that people who live within the “sphere of influence” of these solid waste disposal facilities suffer from elevated and often fatal symptoms of specific diseases. It has been well documented that elk dump had not been required to control the release of hydrogen sulfide gas, a major cause of specific lung cancers.
As of this date, I am aware of three friends who lived within the “sphere of influence” of your elk dump that have died from these specific lung cancers. It is only a matter of time. Your attempt to divert attention away from your personal and professional responsibility would indicate a “consciousness of guilt.” in a court of law.
Once again, I ask you to take your responsibility seriously. Pull your lips off the public teet. Raise attention to the United State Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division.
WAYNE VERMILYA,
Onaway
