In response to Mary Lou Roznowski’s “What if we got it wrong?” letter, I also wonder the same thing. But what if she’s guilty? I sat in the courtroom every day too. I heard how teacher Heather Winfield plied a male student, starting at age 11 with gifts, motel stays, secret cell phones, and countless messages and chats of a sexual nature. Let’s not forget her comment, ‘Cheater pants’ also. That one piece of evidence told me all I needed to know.

The criminal profiler we heard from told us of a rare predator that starts out with good intentions, but develops an unhealthy relationship with the victim. To me, this is Heather Winfield.

So yes, Mary Lou, what if we got it wrong?
