Why I have a Joe Biden sign in my front yard

Republican friends ask why I have a Joe Biden sign in my front yard.

I tell them it’s because I want a president we can all respect. This isn’t just a team sport (Republicans vs. Democrats); rather, we want and deserve an individual who has qualities including integrity, honesty, responsibility, and humility.

As a Vietnam veteran, I cannot vote for a guy who speaks of our war dead as “suckers” because they didn’t avoid military service. He considered John McCain a “loser” because he was shot down and captured (his words: “I like people who don’t get caught”).

He has time to golf but not to read the daily intelligence briefings. The top generals who signed on to serve him have resigned in disgust. He doesn’t accept his own appointed FBI director’s report that white supremacists are our greatest domestic threat, and now tells us that he doesn’t believe his own health experts (Anthony Fauci, Robert Redfield).

I can’t vote for a guy who takes the word of the former KGB agent, Russian strongman Vladimir Putin, over that of our own intelligence agencies. We were mighty proud when President Ronald Reagan demanded, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” In stark contrast, our current president declared, “I don’t see any reason why” he shouldn’t trust Putin’s denial.

He concealed the truth from us about COVID-19, “I played it down,” resulting in us having over 20% of the world’s COVID-19 deaths although we’ve only 5% of the world’s population. How does he feel about that? His words: “I take no responsibility.”

I can’t vote for a guy who brags about groping women, publicly mocks people who are disabled, and who puts self above country.

That’s why there’s a Biden sign in my front yard.
