Adults know how to protect themselves

After hearing our Memorial Day program honoring our soldiers who gave their all was canceled, I am angry! This is a very important day. It makes no sense that we can shop at all the big box stores, golf, etc., but can’t gather outside to honor our soldiers.

People should be able to attend, wear a mask or not, or decide not to attend. These soldiers fought a much bigger war than the one we are facing today. This has gone too far!

I have also heard they may not start school in the fall. What?! That is four months away. She does not have a crystal ball. None of us know what will happen tomorrow. We don’t live in a safe world and face risks every day.

As for me and my family, we are going to get on with our lives. I will be at Flanders Field on Memorial Day, as I have done for many years.

We are all adults, not kindergartners, and know how to protect ourselves without someone telling us what we can do, when we can do it, and how.

Thanks to Delores Troupe for your letter to the editor on May 3.
