Presque Isle County is broke and broken

Broke, broker, or broken?

Is it today we break, yesterday we broke, and many times we have broken? It really isn’t that all confusing if you think about it. Presque Isle County is broke, the powers that be, the brokers, broke it and for many years we have lived in a broken community. It’s kind of like today they corrupt, yesterday they corrupted, and many times they have let greed corrupt it. Any way you look at it, the county is broken.

I remember when the dump was going to be their savior. I remember when a coal-fired power plant was going to be their savior. Now they want our member-owned electric and gas cooperative to steal the Onaway Airport and be their savior. Just like a broken machine, if it isn’t fixed, it will destroy itself and end up in the junkyard for scrap. I’ve been around here long enough that nothing will surprise me. But it would be hard for me to believe that our Presque Isle Electric and Gas Co-op member/owners, their electric and gas bills, and their board of directors would pump $20 million into Rogers City county’s coffers in a futile effort to fix a broken community.
