Raising gas taxes, wondering why folks leave?
This is not just about Alpena. It’s about Michigan, in general.
We now have the higest car insurance in the U.S. We have one of the highest gas taxes in the U.S. Now there is talk of another 45-cents-per-gallon increase in gas tax to fix our crumbling roads.
A month ago, our gas was $2.03 per gallon.
This week, it went to $2.89. That is almost a 50 percent increase.
We ask why people don’t want to move to Michigan. They are leaving.
We have many issues needed to be addressed. Let’s start with these.
P.S., the U.S. is now the number-one oil-producing country in the world. Really.
