Don’t be misled by the chaos in our government over the shutdown. There was only one reason for nearly destroying our country. It had nothing to do with immigration, national security threats, who is right, or whether we need a wall.

The sole purpose was politics. President Donald Trump wanted a feather in his hat by fulfilling a useless, expensive campaign promise. Putting the welfare of 800,000 federal employees in dire straits, and turning his back on our nation’s needs was of no concern.

It’s a little less than two years until 2020. Take a deep breath and fight at all costs to defeat Trump’s goal. Don’t let Donald get a feather — politics at its best.
