Pastor Williams will be missed by community

On April 20 our community lost a cherished pastor and friend when Jack Williams went to be with his Lord and Savior. This letter is a tribute and statement of honor to him for who he was is and always will be to so many who are still grieving. There are no words to express our sadness that still lingers in our hearts with unbelief that he has really passed, even though we know that he is playing his guitar and singing as he “waltzes through heaven with Jesus.” While he was with us he was a strong and courageous man of God, always willing to impart his help wherever God called him and you could never look him in the eye without seeing the Savior that he served so faithfully with a gracious heart. His kindness and caring love permeated the atmosphere that surrounded him like a gentle wind that swept us to a quiet place of peace. And then there were times of joy and humor that only he could portray when he sang his story songs that made us laugh and cry. His life touched thousands from Northeast Michigan and throughout the world through personal contact, prayers, missions and salvations. He was an incredible, amazing man of the highest integrity, and faith who left us with the humility of Christ who gave His life for us. Those of us who knew him and had the privilege of bowing in the prayer of salvation with him and walked into Beaver Lake with him to be baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit will treasure those moments and know that we will see him again someday — when our time comes to take the Hand of our Creator.
