Michigan’s gas tax not being spent properly

Mr. Snyder wants to transfer $15 million from the fund to clean up leaking fuel tanks to fund additional clean-up of 7,000 sites polluted by industry.

Now he just raised the tax on gas seven cents per gallon and 11.3 cents per gallon diesel, plus additional registration fees. We didn’t get a chance to vote on that on that now did we?

Now back in the 1960s they were able to secure the land dig hundreds or thousands of ponds for overpasses and complete I-75. Yet today it can’t be maintained even though they have collected fuel taxes for decades.

Where I’m going with this is that it’s just too darn easy to pull money from here to pay for something different. If you’re going to collect a specific tax that is what it should be used for. There’s a reason most folks don’t trust politicians, they will tell you one thing and do something entirely different. By the way, Mr. Snyder, we didn’t get a chance to vote on this did we?
