Equality is a strong cup of tea

Senior Attitudes

Life is like a cup of tea. It’s all in how strong you make it.

I am a tea addict and I think after being reminded of Martin Luther King on his day that he was a brother of mine. I, too, have a dream that one day all men will rise up and be equal. Some day we will only worry about caring for each other, despite our color or religious differences.

Today, after that sermon, I’m watching again. It’s that getting older thing.

Why, when I’m out picking wild blueberries and they are picking me, do I wonder if it’s really worth the work? I wonder why Uncle Arthritis keeps picking on my hands, knees, and shoulders? Why, when I was young, could I go on a bus trip and not empty my bladder until I was home. Now, my bladder in in control. It tells me “I am going to empty, you have only minutes to choose where, but I am going to empty.”

Again, life is like a cup of tea — as it steeps longer, it gets stronger. Seniors have steeped for a while.

As my new T-shirt says, as I get older, I don’t want people thinking, “What a sweet old lady.” I want them saying, “Oh crap, what is she up to now?!”

I send you my best thoughts and I say, “Oh crap, what are you all up to now?”
