Let’s keep up healthy habits, Northeast Michigan

Northeast Michigan was healthier in 2020 than in the previous year, staff writer Crystal Nelson reported recently.

Statistics from the County Health Rankings report from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation showed Alpena County improved from 41st to 27th out of Michigan’s 83 counties, Presque Isle County improved from 62nd to 55th, Montmorency County improved from 71st to 70th, and Alcona County improved from 76th to 68th.

While some of those rankings are based on factors outside the control of individuals, such as poverty and access to health care, a great deal of it is based on Northeast Michiganders making healthier choices. We’re watching our weight. We’re quitting smoking.

All of that is very encouraging.

Here’s hoping we can keep it up.

Stay healthy, Northeast Michigan.
