Cheers to Alcona principal

Way to go Tim Lee, principal at Alcona Elementary School.

Lee recently was honored as the Regional Principal of the Year by the Michigan Elementary and Middle School Principals Association.

The region Lee was honored for includes districts from Iosco County, across the state to Lake Michigan, then all the districts north of that line to the Mackinac Bridge.

It was a nice honor for a deserving man.

Humbly he accepted the honor, but was quick to explain that, in reality, the honor really included a group of people much larger than just him.

“It’s a representation of the entire school, and all the stuff that’s happening within the building,” he told reporter Julie Goldberg in a story this week. “It’s not just me. It’s the support from the board, from the superintendent, support from every staff member, and doing everything they can for kids every day. It’s not just an individual recognition, it covers an entire school and district and community.”

While working for Alcona Community Schools, Lee has been a team-builder. He has been instrumental in teaming up with area businesses to expand educational experiences for students.

Congratulations to Lee for this deserving recognition.
