No, Christmas is not just around the corner … even if holiday merchandise can now be found at many merchants around the region.

The “Ho, Ho, Ho” mentioned above is a tease to the focal point of the 2019 Lions Old Newsboys edition that only can be purchased today and Saturday from Alpena Noon Lions Club members around the community.

The newspaper is a joint project of the Lions and Alpena News employees, with money raised from sales targeted for the Salvation Army to aid in their Red Kettle campaign.

In past years, Lions would sell the special edition during the traditional holiday season, replacing Red Kettle workers during the hours of the sale. By holding the Old Newsboys sales this weekend, it basically gives the Salvation Army an extra weekend of collections toward their holiday campaign this year.

We urge you during your shopping chores today and tomorrow to make a donation and receive the “one of a kind” collector’s edition.
