Happy homecoming, Alpena!

Nothing says fall quite like football, and nothing says football quite like homecoming and Spirit Week.

Alpena High School is now counting down the days to the Wildcats’ home game against the Traverse City Trojans on Friday.

Reporter Julie Goldberg last week previewed the fun Alpena High students will have with this week’s Spirit Week events. Monday was Hawaii Day, today is Pure Michigan Day, and Wednesday is Pink Day for Breast Cancer Awareness. On Thursday, students can wear baggy T-shirts over shorts and the shirt can be longer than the shorts. Friday is Class Color Day, and Oct. 14 is Comfy Day.

On Friday, students and others will parade to the high school beginning at 4:30 p.m., marching from Ella White Elementary School to Wildcat Stadium. The Neiman’s Family Market Tailgate Party follows the parade until the football game at 7 p.m.

The Alpena High classes also will compete in a hallway decoration content, with guest judges Jeffrey Mindock, producing artistic director at Thunder Bay Theatre, and Allison Jakubcin, with Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union.

Tradition in the classroom, titans on the gridiron. Doesn’t get much better.

Have fun this week, students, because it’s some of the best times of your lives.

Community, make sure you show up to the game Friday to support your team.

Happy homecoming, Alpena!

Go Wildcats!
