As a Christian I am concerned what the results will be because of cuts in USAID as reported in the Lancet. The Lancet is an a weekly, peer-reviewed general medical journal founded in England and is considered one of the world’s most prestigious and influential sources of medical research and opinion.

The Lancet predicted around 700,000 childhood deaths per year due to cuts in U.S. foreign aid, specifically from the dismantling and severe reduction of USAID programs. This estimate is part of a broader projection that over 14 million preventable deaths could occur globally by 2030, including more than 4.5 million children under five, because of these aid cuts.

I cannot believe the country I love really wants to do this. In fact, I do believe that most Americans will oppose these cuts when they see the predicted results of the cuts in USAID.

As a Christian, I cannot be silent about these avoidable deaths.

Even if they are wrong by 50 percent or more, the number is staggering.
