DELORES VALERIA BRUNING

Delores Valeria Bruning, age 95, of Rogers Township passed away Oct. 21, 2022 at MediLodge of Alpena. She was born Oct. 22, 1926 in Ocqueoc to William and Martha (Sorgenfrei) Karsten. Delores married Vaughn Baker on June 22, 1946 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on March 12, 1986. She was a life member of Immanuel Lutheran’s Ladies Aid. She also was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Delores loved to bowl and she was inducted into the Rogers City Bowling Hall of Fame. She gave up bowling at the age of 90. FR. LAWRENCE L. HOPPE

Fr. Lawrence L. Hoppe, retired priest of the Diocese of Greensburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2022 at the age of 88. Fr. Hoppe was born April 13, 1934 in Detroit, a son of Theophilus and Veronica (Purol) Hoppe. He was preceded in death by his sister Susan Kuszajewski and his brother Carl Hoppe. Fr. Hoppe is survived by his brothers, George Hoppe, David Hoppe, Norbert Hoppe, Thomas Hoppe and his sister Bernadette Kenjorski. Fr. Hoppe was educated in the St. Casimir schools in Posen and St. Joseph Minor Seminary in Grand Rapids. He earned a bachelor’s degree at St. Mary and SS. ...

COUSINEAU, Urlene Joyce, 96, of Rogers City, died Oct. 23, 2022 at MediLodge of Rogers City. She is survived by her daughter, Lou Ann (John) Dillon; granddaughter, Tonya (Chuck); one great-grandson; and sister, Donna (Dick) and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and wonderful friends. HANSON, Michael, 70, of Alpena, died Friday, Oct. 21, 2022, at MediLodge of Alpena. He is survived by his wife, Margo, two daughters, Tonya (Scott) Repke, Alicia Hanson, six siblings, Bill, Isabelle (Bill) Hildreth, Matt, Joe, Andy, and Steve (Jackie). FLORA BYE

Flora Bye was born in Grayling, Michigan on March 8, 1938 and passed on Oct. 4, 2022, at 84 years of age, in Hale, Michigan. Flora was an active, outgoing person who dearly loved to golf. She played at courses across the country and on her dream trip to Ireland. A skilled player, she shot three holes-in-one and kept her trophies on prominent display. After retiring from Alpena General Hospital, Flora moved to a home on a golf course in Whitney, Texas, and could be found daily on the course in her golf cart with her little dogs along for the ride.
