1st Sergeant William “Bill” Fleck, United States Army (Retired), of Presque Isle, Michigan, passed on Jan. 25, 2023, from wounds and trauma he suffered during multiple humanitarian and combat deployments with the United States Marine Corps and United States Army in Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Bill was born to Raymond F. Fleck Sr and Sandra E. Fleck on Nov. 10, 1969, in Alpena, Michigan. Linda Manning, 71, of Alpena passed away Sunday, Jan. 29, 2023 at MediLodge of Alpena. Linda was born March 31, 1951 in Alpena to the late Donald and Joyce (Meno) Manning. Lela Alene Cohoon, 95, of Hillman, passed away Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena. Lela Alene Slight was born in Reed City on Dec. 10, 1927, to the late Floyd and Alberta (Sims). On May 21, 1949, she married Murel Cohoon. She was an avid reader, enjoyed quilting, gardening and traveling with her husband with their camper. Surviving are her husband, Murel; five children, Carol Best, Sue Cohoon, Steven (Susan) Cohoon, Muriel Cohoon, Fern Cohoon; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marian Woods. On Jan. 27, 2023, as his loving wife held him, Howard Dallas French passed through the physical experience we call death. His caring, devoted family was with him. Born on May 14, 1945 to Robert and Annette (Rose) French, he was named after his uncle who died at Normandy.
