Robert Douglas Schaffer, 74, of Atlanta passed away March 15, 2023. Robert was born Dec. 12, 1948 in Dearborn, Michigan to the late Douglas and Maryann (Tolstyka) Schaffer. His special needs have always limited him physically, but never once did it limit his fantastic personality. Robert wasn’t always able to communicate verbally, but his warm smile and simple yes or “yeah” answer would connect him with his environment. Carol Fay Menefee, 85, of Alpena passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, March 15, 2023. Carol was born Dec. 9, 1937, in Rogers City to the late Elmer and Violet (Wenzel) Bruning. Following graduation, she went to work as a secretary in Detroit before returning to Rogers City where she worked at General Telephone. She also worked at a dress shop in Sebring, Florida where she and her husband spent their winters. Carol enjoyed traveling, golfing, bowling, and was an excellent baker. DAROCZY, Darryl E., 64, of Lincoln, died Sunday, March 12, 2023, at his home. Darryl is survived by three children, Joe (Cheryl), Jessica (Keith) VanHurk, and Angie Savoy-Kennedy, five grandchildren, four siblings, Joseph “Chris” (Anita), Susan (Harry) Harvey, David (Debra), and JoAnn (Dan) O’Connor, as well as several nieces and nephews. Phillip Edward Filipiak, 57, of Maple Ridge Township, passed away at home March 12, 2023. Phil was born Nov. 5, 1964 in Alpena to the late Edward and Phyllis (Howay) Filipiak. He was married to the late Jackie Dubey. Phil is survived by his stepchildren, Jodie Dault, Jackie Dault, and Ronnie Dault, his brother, Andrew Filipiak, several grandchildren, his nephew, Andrew John Filipiak, and several nieces.
