John “Jack” Joseph Kauffman, 86, of Alpena passed away Monday, July 7, 2025, at his home.
John was born August 8, 1938, in Alpena to the late Fred and Lillian (Buczkowski) Kauffman. He served in the United States Marine Corps. On October 15, 1960, he married Janice Maciejewski. Jack owned and operated the Qwik Stop for many years and later worked as a salesman at McCoy Pontiac. He was a member of All Saints Parish, Knights of Columbus, Marine Corps League, and Elks Club.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Janice; four children, Craig (Sandi) Kauffman, Connie (Chris) Brown, Christin (Dan) Bennett, Lisa (James) Fought; 9 grandchildren, John Kauffman, Joey Kauffman, Michael Brown, Sara (Xhaneto) Berisha, Sydney Bennett, Kelsey Bennett, Ryan (Kaila) Bennett, Matthew Fought, Allison Fought; 2 great grandchildren, Aurora and Maverick.
Jack was preceded in death by his infant grandson, Bradley Bennett.
Visitation will take place Friday, July 11, 2025, at Bannan Funeral Home from 2-8 p.m. with military honors accorded him by Alpena VFW Post 2496 at 5 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at St. Anne Church of All Saints Parish on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. with Rev. Emmanuel Finbarr officiating.
