ESTHER COLE

Esther was born on Dec. 22, 1921 to the late Hobert and Anna (Cumming) Dettman in Duncan Bay (Cheboygan), Michigan. In August of 1949 in Detroit, Esther married Arthur M. Cole Jr. who preceded her in death on April 3, 1986.

Esther was the glue of the family making sure that her family’s needs were not only met but exceeded. She loved to garden, and cook and was notably the best seamstress to be had. She made outfits for her children for most occasions including Easter. She enjoyed watching the birds and found great joy in being outside.

Esther is survived and missed dearly by her children Deana Poe, Arthur (Jacklynn) Cole, Vickie (Don) Lampel, and Linda (James) Montgomery. Also, surviving is her sister Joan Larson, nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Barry Raeburn and son-in-law Jim Poe.

In lieu of flowers those wishing an expression of sympathy may wish to consider contributions to Thunder Bay Audubon or Alpena Garden Club in Esther’s honor.

A graveside service will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Alpena on July 9, 2022 at 12 p.m.
