Tom and Joan Lavoie

On April 7, 2026, Tom and Joan Lavoie celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

They were married in 1956 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Alpena by Reverend William B. Belk.

Tom and Joan are both retired from the Alpena Public Schools.

Their daughters are Jeri (Allen) Andon of Fleming, Florida and Beth (John) DesOrmeau of Novi.

Their son Thomas Lavoie passed away in 2011.

The couple have six grandchildren, Jackie (Brian) Will of DeWitt, Danielle (Mike) Fortino of Mount Pleasant, Natalie (Travis) Babola, of Baltimore Maryland, Robert (Hayley) Andon, of Yorktown Virginia, Taylor John (fiancee Mikhayla Dunaj) DesOrmeau of Portage, and Alicia DesOrmeau of Byron Center.

They also have four great-grandchildren, Vivienne Will, Jaxon Fortino, Arthur Babola, and Jack Andon.

Celebrations included family dinners, flowers, phone calls, and congratulatory cards.
