MARVIN LEE BROWN
Marvin (Charlie Brown) Lee Brown, 74, of Ossineke passed away peacefully on Feb. 27, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family after a sudden terminal illness. He is now safe and whole in the presence of his heavenly father. He was born on June 1, 1947, in Alpena, the son of the late Robert and Ruby (Stone) Brown.
He graduated from Alpena High School and attended Michigan State University. Marvin started his livestock farm supply business in 1972, Brown’s Livestock Supply, which continued through to his death, celebrating 50 years of business this year. He also worked as a machinist at W.G.Benjey for many years. On March 14, 1975, he married Betty Jean Kwiatkoski.
Marvin was a huge animal and nature lover. He always took great care with his farm animals and would spend much of his time outside on the farm. He was a farmer at heart, often seen out and about in his bib-overalls and at his best with the farming and auction sales communities. He also served on the Alpena County Fair Board for many years and was an avid supporter of FFA and the 4-H programs.
Marvin also cared deeply for his Amish neighbors. He got to know them through his business, often delivering supplies. Over the years he built a deep friendship with many Amish families, which brought him great joy.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Betty; son Joshua (Rachael) Brown; daughter Rebekah (Robert) Johnson; two grandchildren George and Azalee Brown. Marvin also leaves behind his brothers Bob (Shirley) Brown, Melvin (Cathy) Brown, Bill (Debbie) Brown, Tom Brown, and sister Lois Spina; brother-in-law, Bob (Amy) Kwiatkoski; sisters-in-law Valerie Bloom, Susan Jewell; and several nieces and nephews.
Marvin was preceded in death by his son Jeremiah Brown; in-laws Gene and Betty Kwiatkoski; sister Ruth Siddons; brothers-in-law John Spina, Dave Kwiatkoski and William Jewell.
