JULIUS WILLIAM SCHEPKE
Julius William Schepke, 83, of Hubbard Lake passed away Saturday, March 26, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Julius was born on March 3, 1939, in Alpena to the late Clarence and Martha (Kubbe) Schepke. On March 26, 1960, he married Mary Lou Jobin. They had 62 wonderful years of marriage. Julius retired from Alpena Glass Company after 45 years of service. He lived his entire life in the Hubbard Lake area. He was a long time dedicated member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, the Moose Lodge, Ossineke Eagles. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching westerns, the Detroit Tigers baseball, avid euchre player, and polka dancing. Julius built the family farmhouse for his family with much love from lumbering trees from the property. He always made sure shooting lanes were cleared even after not able to hunt himself. He always provided for his family’s needs and ensured their happiness, spent quality time with them and always welcomed others with an open door and heart.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Mary Lou; three children, Rudy (Shelly) Schepke, Jim (Phyllis) Schepke, Lisa (Terry) Ravitz; 10 grandchildren, Nathan (Shannon) Schepke, Samantha (Justin) Phipps, Sarah (Quintin) Polizowicz, Robin (Krystal) Phipps, Angie (Randy) Phipps, Holly (Jesse) Roberts, Katrina Schepke, Jimmy Schepke, Kristin (Josh) Olson, Jeffrey (Taryn) Schepke; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara (Bill) Eagle; Emily Hitchcock; brother-in-law, Bill (Helen) Smith; sister-in-law, Holly Schepke; several nieces, nephews, and many loved friends and neighbors.
Mr. Schepke was preceded in death by son, William ‘Billie’ Schepke; grandson, Nicholas Phipps; sisters, Verna Rizzi, Shirley Smith; brothers, Robert Schepke, and Clarence Schepke, Jr.
Visitation will take place on Friday, April 1, 2022, at St. Catherine Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. with the Rev. John Williams officiating. Arrangements are being handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
Interment: St. Catherine Cemetery
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
