DOLORES MARIE MATASH

Dolores Marie Matash, 90, of Alpena passed away Friday, Nov. 5, 2021, at MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland.

Dolores Marie Galusky was born March 18, 1931, in Hamtramck, Michigan to Joseph and Josephine (Gunshol) Galusky. She met Edward Matash on a blind date and married him Sept. 12, 1953. Little did they know their honeymoon at Fireside Inn in Presque Isle, Michigan would later lead them to uproot and move their family to Alpena in 1967. They excitedly opened Ed’s Northside Party Store in 1967 where they poured their heart and soul for 27 years. Dolores was a devout member of All Saints Parish, St. Anne’s Sodality, and Rosary Society Group #3. She especially loved volunteering her time as “the lunch lady” at St. Anne’s School for 25 years.

Surviving are her eight children, Rosanne (Don) Barvir, David (Kathy) Matash, Gloria (Greg) Sprayberry, Michele (Steve) Evers, Jackie (Mark) Daleski, Edward (Tara) Matash, Kristi (Michael) LaBrecque, Jennifer (Bob) Budnik, son-in-law Terry Murphy, 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, brother, Edmund (Lynn) Galusky, and several nieces and nephews.

Dolores was preceded in death by Ed, the love of her life (April 29, 2001), her daughter Mary Jo (Matash) Murphy and her brother, Joseph Galusky.

A private Mass of Christian Burial for Dolores’ children and grandchildren will take place at St. Anne Church of All Saints Parish on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Tyler Bischoff officiating. For the many other family and friends, the Mass will be streamed live at bannanfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are being handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
