TRUEMAN CHARLES MARTIN

Trueman Charles Martin, age 85, died in the home he built with his late wife, in Tower, Michigan on Oct. 7, 2021. Trueman was born March 1, 1936 in Frederic Township, Michigan and was a lifelong Michigander.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Alfred and Beatrice Martin (Pethers), first wife Claudia Martin (Boyce), son Rusty Martin, and stepson Eli Coulston.

He is survived by his wife Jane Martin (Kannowski), two children: Chuck (Stacy) Martin and Candy (Art) Teran, two step-children, Heddy (Eric) Coulston-Smith and Christa (John) Coker, and nine grandchildren respectively: Taylor and Jarrett Martin, Artie, Alison and Jackson Teran, Van and Aspen Coulston-Smith, Arianna and I’le Coker.

Affectionately known as Truey and Bub, Trueman was a family man and avid outdoorsmen. His hobbies and talents included fishing, hunting, building, repairing, tractors, and gardening. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1959 and served his country for two years before an honorable discharge. During his service he received the Sharpshooter and Marksman badges.

He retired as a custodian for the Onaway School System, but previously worked as a carpenter and builder by trade. Some of his most treasured builds include the house he raised his family and died in, multiple barns and workshops for the property, a two-tiered pond outside the home, a plant house, furniture, and a custom fireplace with stones and artifacts from his property.

Truey will be genuinely missed by many friends and family. A Funeral Service will be held at Chagnon Funeral Home in Onaway, Michigan Oct. 16. The viewing will occur from 4-7 p.m., and the service from 7-8 p.m.

Masks are required for the duration of the service.
