RUTH OLA McCONNELL

Ruth Ola McConnell, 87, of Alpena was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 13, 2021.

Ruth was born Oct. 21, 1933, in Alpena to the late David and Ola (Case) Dinsmore. She graduated from Alpena High School and on July 20, 1952 she married her lifelong love Orrin McConnell at Trinity Episcopal Church.

Ruth had four things that always remained important to her: God, family, church, and community. She had a servant’s heart and never turned away anyone in need. Her thought was you never knew when you might be entertaining angels unaware. Serving her family, church family, and community brought her great joy. Ruth was always the one doing the work behind the scenes, which is exactly how she preferred it. She was an active member at New Life Christian Fellowship where she served as an Elder and Deacon. Ruth also served in several different service groups and ran the food pantry for many years as well. Ruth also enjoyed tending her flower garden, cooking and baking. She was known for her delicious pies and baking 6-7 loaves of bread every week. Ruth will be dearly missed but there is no doubt she will hear the words “well done thy good and faithful servant”.

Ruth is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, Orrin McConnell, her daughter Terri Konecki, three grandchildren, Keith Konecki, Scott McConnell, Nicole McConnell, two great-grandchildren, Fern and Lillian McConnell, and two sisters, Ervlene Lee, and Karen Rowel. She was preceded in death by her son Brent, her brother Robert Anderson, and two sisters, Andrea Anderson, and Nada Heath.

Ruth is at McWilliams Funeral Home where visitation will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021 from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. with Pastor Gary Smith officiating. The service will be live streamed at mcwilliamsfh.com where online condolences can be registered as well.
