Mrs. Jean Marie Cady, 94 of Atlanta, Michigan died peacefully at the Clarkston Specialty Healthcare Center in Clarkston on the evening of July 26, 2020. She was born in Osceola Township, Michigan on Sept. 22, 1925 to the late Charles and Seima Maanika. She married Arthur Cady on Nov. 11, 1944 in Pontiac. Together the couple celebrated 61 years of marriage before Arthur’s passing in 2006. The couple had resided in Atlanta since 1946. Jean was a longtime member of the Big Rock Congregational Church where she was active in the women’s fellowship and enjoyed singing in the choir. Jean was an enthusiastic participant in the Senior Exercise Group at the Senior Center. She was skilled at an array of crafts including painting, quilting and sewing. She taught many Atlanta residents to sew in 4H and Adult Ed classes. Above all, she valued her time spent with her family and will be deeply missed.

Jean is survived by her sons, Jack (Jacque) Cady of Waterford; Eugene (Karen) Cady of Tyrone, New Mexico, daughters, Elizabeth (Wayne) Edgar of Fenton, Janet Cady (Jeff) Davidson of Alexandria, Virginia, 18 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, Libby, husband, Arthur, sons, Charles and Gordon, brothers, Carl, Raymond, and Clyde, and sister, Verna Githens.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial in celebration of her life will be held at the Big Rock Congregational Church on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2020 with visitation beginning at noon and services at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Big Rock Congregational Church, 8258 M-32, Atlanta, Michigan, 49709.
