VIOLET ESTER ROBINSON

Mrs. Violet Ester Robinson, 84 of Hillman, Michigan died at her home surrounded by loved ones on Oct. 14, 2019.

She was born in Alpena, Michigan on Dec. 25, 1934 to the late Martin and Margaret (Hasse) Domke. Violet grew up on a dairy farm, one of eight children in Herron, Michigan. After leaving the family farm, she worked as a switchboard operator in Alpena until meeting and marrying her lifelong partner, Donald Duane Robinson. They spent 64 years together until his death in 2017. After raising her five children, she went back to work providing adult care for local businesses. In the early 1990s, she opened her own adult care home, Vi’s Foster Care, in Hillman where she provided a safe, loving, and caring environment to many men and women in their final days. She was a loyal and devoted Christian who enjoyed gardening, bird watching, travel, and caring for others. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who loved to spend time with her large family. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her five children, Tamyra (Verne) Bates; Dean (Jacqueline) Robinson; Denise (Jeff) Safford; Todd (Sandy) Robinson; and Burt Robinson, all of Hillman; three sisters, Ruth (David) Wagoner, of Bay City; Dorothy (James) Schubbe, of Indiana; and Emma (Larry) Nelson, of Alpena; 16 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Margaret Domke; husband, Donald; brothers, Rufus, Harry; Frederick; and sister, Gertrude.

Funeral services for Mrs Robinson will be held on Friday, Oct. 18, 2019 at 1 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home, Hillman, Pastor Jason Mandley officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Hillman Rust Township Cemetery.
