ESTHER MILLER COHEN JOHNSON
Esther Miller Cohen Johnson, 91, of Alpena, entered eternal peace on Friday, Sept. 6, 2019. Esther was born on Jan. 20, 1928 to the late Leslie and Esther (Gardner) Miller in Alpena. She was a graduate of Alpena High School. Esther continued her education in Florida where she obtained her Registered Nursing license. She worked for the Bradenton Memorial Hospital specializing in phlebotomy for many years until her retirement. Esther was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, and loved to spend time with her family. She was also a faithful practicing Lutheran of the Missouri Synod.
She is survived by a brother, Ralph Miller of Clio, Michigan, two sisters, Avis LeTourneau of Alpena, Michigan. and Martha Vanwagner of Lincoln, Michigan, several nieces and nephews, as well as many special friends. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Harris Cohen and Jesse Johnson, a brother, David Miller, and three sisters, Betty Schemke, Patricia Thibault, and Brenda Miller.
Esther has been taken for cremation from McWilliams Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service is planned for a later date and will be announced in a future edition of The News.
