CATHERINE ELIZABETH WEIDE
Catherine Elizabeth Weide, 71, of Ossineke, entered eternal peace on Friday May 24, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She will be forever deeply missed by all who crossed her path. Cathy “Cat” was born on Oct. 15, 1947 in Alpena to the late “Roy” and Mary (Jacques) Boucher. She graduated from Alcona High School the class of 1965. Her passion for school would carry on into her adulthood years as she worked for Alpena Public Schools as a secretary until her retirement in 2010. On April 16, 1966 Catherine married the love of her life Earl Weide and they enjoyed 29 years of love and partnership until his passing in 1996. Catherine enjoyed raising Quarter Horses; for show and racing. She also enjoyed raising Siamese and Bengal cats, watching horse races, and the Detroit Tigers. She could always be found on a sunny day planting and grooming flower beds (that could easily be featured in Home & Gardens Magazine). Her greatest joy however, came from watching her grandchildren perform in Track & Field (Faith) and Baseball (Travis Earl). Catherine was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the Fraternal Order of The Eagles-Ossineke.
Catherine is survived by her son Travis (Amy) Weide of Ossineke, two grandchildren, Faith and Travis Earl Weide, a brother Bill Boucher, a sister Leora Williams, her loving friend Ronald Boboltz, her longtime friend, Teresa, whom assisted her through her battle up until the end. She was preceded in death by a brother Richard Boucher, and three sisters, Mary Anne Bunn, Yvonne Boucher, and Julie Curtis.
A memorial visitation will take place on Tuesday June 4, 2019 at McWilliams Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. with Rev. James Erickson officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to The Catherine Weide Memorial Scholarship Fund.
