JOHN CLAYTON McCLURE

John “Jack” Clayton McClure, 78 of Traverse City, Mich., formerly of Long Rapids, Mich., passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 25, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jack was born in Long Rapids, Mich. on April 22, 1941 to John and Thelma (Sauls) McClure. He was employed at Abitibi for 15 years in the woodyard. There he developed a friendship and eventual business partnership with Robert (Bob) McConnell in the logging industry, McConnell-McClure Forest Products. He retired from his logging/trucking business in 2009 and moved with wife, Cindy, to Traverse City.

He married Cindy (Flees) Yagle on July 1, 1995 and resided in Long Rapids until his retirement. He is survived by wife, Cindy; four children, Kurtis (Sharon) McClure, Kevin (Cathy) McClure, Kristi (Al) Krueger, Kimberly (Jim) Paczkowski, two stepchildren, Tammy (Al) Rodriguez and Tom (Sandee) Yagle; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Shirley Walmsley, Connie Justice and Patricia Gebhart.

His wishes were to be cremated and laid to rest in Long Rapids Cemetery.

A memorial luncheon will be held at Green Township Hall, 14621 M-32, Lachine, Mich., on Sunday, June 2, 2019 from 1-4 p.m.
