RUSSELL G. RHOADS
Russell “Rusty” Rhoads, age 88, of Alpena passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw, Mich.
He was born on Aug. 22, 1929 to the late Germain and Mable (Burnash) Rhoads of Flint, Mich. On Dec. 31, 1960 he married Loretta Skiba at St. Mary Catholic Church. Russell worked for Fraser Products and Fletcher Paper Mill. He was a member of the St. Anne Catholic Church, an honorary member of the C-J Gun Club and the Knights of Columbus Third and Fourth Degree.
Russell is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Loretta; and their four children Laurie (Christopher) Bump of Florida; Linda Rhoads of Florida; Steve (Della-Rae) Rhoads of Alpena, Mich.; Bridget (Dr. Timothy Moeckel) of Georgia; his five grandchildren Eric Rhoads, Ashley Tucker, Andrew Moeckel, Mariah Rhoads, Marissa Rhoads; and one great-granddaughter Scarlet Rhoads.
He was preceded in death by his brother Carl and his step-father Herman Hiske.
Family and friends will gather at the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home for visitation on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017 from 2-8 p.m. with a Parish Prayer Service beginning at 7 p.m. followed by the K of C Third Degree Presentation of the Mass and Fourth Degree Chalice presentation. Visitation will continue at St. Anne Catholic Church of All Saints Parish on Friday, Sept. 8, 2017 from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial begins at 11 a.m. with Fr. James Fitzpatrick officiating.
