Keeping our beach clean
Courtesy Photo A volunteer helps to clean up the beach at blair Street Park. On Wednesday, seven MIShores volunteers removed about 33,000 pounds of storm sewer runoff sludge from Blair Street Beach. The retrieved sludge was from a storm sewer purge on May 21. About two-thirds of the purge still remains on the lake floor. This debris will wash ashore in the following weeks and will be picked up by MIShores volunteers. The sludge removed was taken to the City compost for recycling .
