ALPENA — The organizers of the Alpena Citywide Garage Sale, Carol Rundell and Sarah Melching, are proud to announce a $500 donation to Hope Shores Alliance following another successful community-wide event.

This year, garage sale participants had the opportunity to vote for the local nonprofit organization that would receive proceeds from the event. In 2026, Hope Shores Alliance was

selected by an overwhelming majority of registrants.

“We’re honored to support the important work Hope Shores Alliance does for individuals and families throughout our community and region,” said the organizers. “One of the most rewarding

parts of this event is seeing the community come together to support a local cause.”

The 2026 Alpena Citywide Garage Sale featured 29 registered sales, continuing the event’s tradition of bringing residents and visitors together to shop, explore neighborhoods, and discover

treasures throughout Alpena.

The organizers extend their sincere appreciation to the Alpena News for its generous in-kind advertising support. This partnership helps keep event expenses to a minimum, allowing more

proceeds to be directed back into the community through charitable giving.

Special thanks also go to the event’s Hidden Treasures sponsors, whose donated gift cards and gift certificates added excitement for shoppers participating in this year’s treasure hunt:

• The Court Yard

• JJ’s Steak & Pizza House

• Mango’s

• The Nest

• Pompeyo’s

“The support of our local businesses and community partners continues to make this event possible,” the organizers said. “Their generosity helps create a fun experience while allowing us

to give back to organizations making a real difference.”

Looking ahead, the Alpena Citywide Garage Sale will return in 2027 with updated dates based on feedback from participants and shoppers, next year’s dates will be June 26-27.
