Art in the Loft in Alpena will be hosting The Art of Modern Calligraphy class on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

Calligraphy is an art form that brings awareness to detail with intentionality, creating rhythm and flow. Elevating your message both decoratively and functionally.

In this class, students will learn the basics of hand lettering calligraphy techniques with artist Mariah Brancheau of the Lovely Little Lettering Co. Guiding participants through the upward and downward strokes of letters and tossing in a few unique phrases, fun puns, and some simplistic watercolor techniques to give your lettering pieces pops of color.

This class shares a historical writing technique with a modern twist that people can play with and apply to for years to come.

Mariah Brancheau, of the Lovely Little Lettering Co., will be the instructor and the class is available for people 12 years old and older. The cost of the program is $40 per person.
