ALPENA — On Tuesday, the Alpena Wildcats girls swim team won their home meet against the Essexville Garber Dukes, finishing with a score of 86-70.
The event was particularly meaningful as the team celebrated senior and captain Sarah Rabbideau for her dedication and leadership throughout the season.
“Tonight was a very special evening honoring our senior and captain, Sarah Rabbideau,” Coach Jennifer Johnson said. “She has led the team with her dedication in the water and mastery of skills which will be missed next year.”
Rabbideau placed first in her individual events and relays.
Several team members achieved personal records in their events. Elizabeth Rabbideau also achieved a PR in the 500-yard Freestyle.
The rest of the team contributed to earning points and placement in their respective events.
Johnson acknowledged the team’s overall effort, emphasizing the importance of every swimmer’s role.
Johnson also noted the strong turnout from the community.
“It was so nice to see The Jet’s 7th/8th Grade Football Team, our new Athletic Director Ben Henry, and parents in attendance for support in our last home meet,” she said.
The Wildcats’ next meet is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Tuesday in Alma.
