ALPENA — Alpena Events Complex (APlex) in Alpena will host two nationally touring musical acts between 2026 and 2027. John Berry, Grammy and Emmy award-winning singer-songwriter, will perform on Dec. 11 and Eddie Montgomery, of Montgomery Gentry, will perform on Feb. 26, 2027.

Tickets for Berry’s concert go on sale on July 31 and tickets for Gentry’s concert go on sale Oct. 16.

Some of Berry’s hits include “Your Love Amazes Me,” “Standing on the Edge of Goodbye,” and “She’s Taken a Shine.” Berry will visit Alpena as part of his annual Christmas tour, performing his rendition of “O’ Holy Night.”

“I love what I do, with a passion not seen in quite some time,” Berry said in an APlex press release. “I’m hopeful and excited about the future. I love singing and always will. I have a bus, an incredible stage presentation, a great band, a hands-on management team, and I’m always all dressed up and ready to go.”

Berry began doing Christmas tours in 1995 and 2016 marked his 20th anniversary holiday concert tour, according to the release.

Berry is a member of the North American Country Music Association International Hall of Fame and the South Carolina Entertainment & Music Hall of Fame. In 2026, Berry will celebrate the 30th anniversaries of his single “She’s Taken A Shine,” in November, and his “Christmas With John Berry” annual tour.

“I think I am a few years behind Kenny Rogers when it comes to Christmas tours in country music,” Berry said in the release. “That’s hard to comprehend.”

Montgomery is known as being part of Montgomery Gentry, a country group that rose to popularity in the 90s and early 2000s.

After the death of Troy Gentry, Montgomery has continued to tour and carry on the Montgomery Gentry legacy, according to an APlex press release. Gentry died in a plane crash in 2017.

“I’m keeping it going, I’m keeping my promise,” Montgomery said in the release. “A day don’t go by I don’t talk about him. A day don’t go by I don’t miss him.”

According to the release, Montgomery Gentry has five number one country radio hits, a Grand Ole Opry membership, and a Kentucky Music Hall of Fame induction.

“I’m livin’ life,” Montgomery said in the release. “I’m so happy that I got to sit on my hands to keep them from waving at everybody.”

Notable songs by Montgomery Gentry include “Hillbilly Shoes” and “Cost Of Being Me.”
