Alpena’s seasonal boat launch permits will be available for purchase beginning Monday at the City Clerk’s Office and in the Harbormaster’s Office in the Engineering Department located upstairs inside City Hall, 208 N. 1st Ave., Alpena.

Permits are also available at the Water Recycling Plant, 210 Harbor Drive. Boaters may purchase permits in person or by mail.

Applications are available on the city’s website at alpena.mi.us. Permits will also be available at the Alpena Marina’s dock house when they open for the season around May.

Permits are $50 or $25 for residents of Alpena who verify residency with a state ID and address on their boat registration.

A second permit may be issued at no additional cost if the owner’s name and address are listed on both registrations. That reduction is for a second boat only. Additional boats must be permitted and pay a separate fee.

Boater’s daily launch permits are also available for $7. The 2023 permits are still valid until March 31.
