No one injured in structure fire on Sunday
ALPENA — After a structure fire on 2nd Avenue on Sunday, two tenants were transported to MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena for further evaluation as a precaution. No injuries were reported, Fire Chief Rob Edmonds said in a press release.
The Alpena Fire Department was requested to 2nd Avenue at approximately 4:49 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
Upon arrival, crews found a two-story residential structure with visible flames coming from the window of a second-story apartment. Command verified that everyone was out of the residence and crews proceeded to perform an interior attack on the fire. The fire was rapidly extinguished and under control by seven on-duty personnel and confined to the room of origin.
A full department callback was requested and an additional 10 personnel plus the fire chief reported to assist.
The Alpena Fire Department was assisted by the Alpena Police Department, Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center Fire Department, MyMichigan Emergency Medical Services, Alpena Power, DTE Energy, and the Alpena County 911 Central Dispatch Center.
The fire remains under investigation as no cause has been determined, Edmonds said.
