ACC MEN TAKE TOUGH LOSS

Alpena Community College men’s basketball lost to Grand Rapids Community College, 70-74.

The game started out with both teams testing each other defense. Alpena started off well and ended the half up by two 28-26 at the half.

“We struggled the second half with getting into our offense,” Coach Bobby Allen said. “I had guys go one-on-one and it is up to me, as a coach, to stop it. My guys just try so hard at times. As the leader of this group of young men, I need to do better.”

ACC WOMEN LOSE TO GRCC

Alpena Community College women’s basketball lost to Grand Rapids Community College, 42-70.

Leading the team was Allie Urlaub with 14 points.

“We have struggled on the road all year and are trying to find ways to overcome that,” Coach Brandon Humphrey said. “The second quarter tonight hurt us with only four points, and overall we only shot 19%. We have to be better at finishing the ball and getting on the defensive glass. The best teams are defined by their response to their low moments and I’m looking forward to seeing how we respond as a collective group on Wednesday at NCMC.”

OSCODA DEFEATS ROGERS CITY

Oscoda hosted Rogers City on Homecoming Night and defeated the Hurons 50-44.

Blake Mallak led the Owls with 15 points, Thad Spragg followed with 12, and Connor McNichol and Jack Leclair both finished with eight points.

Rogers City was led by Isaac Lalonde with 15 points.

Oscoda moves to 15-5 and will travel to Rogers City on Monday for a make-up game.
