Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed two bills that increase the fines against those who assault, with or without a weapon, health professionals or medical volunteers who are on the job during the crime. House Bill 4520, sponsored by state representative Mike Mueller, increases fines for assaults without a weapon and House Bill 4521, sponsored by state representative Kelly Breen, increases fines for assaults with a weapon.
