Local extras film scenes for ‘Harsens Island Revenge’

Courtesy Photo More than a dozen Alpena residents recently took part in filming scenes for “Harsens Island Revenge.” Last week, extras filmed a scene inside the Fletcher House on State Avenue, which stood in for a speakeasy. On Thursday night, the extras then filmed a scene outside Alpena’s Centennial Building. Extras playing patrons, cops and federal agents took part in a scene involving a raid where patrons were arrested by the authorities and taken away in cars. The movie is expected to be released in 12 months and there will be a screening in Alpena. Extras who participated in the movie will be invited to the premiere. The story follows World War I veterans who had their own Canadian whiskey smuggling operation on Harsens Island, an island close to Detroit.
