ALPENA — Several Northeast Michigan softball players have earned all-state honors from the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association for their play during the 2023 season.

The area was well-represented in Division 4 as Rogers City shortstop Brooklyn Orr and Hillman pitcher Nicole Barbeau were named to the first team. Additionally, Hillman outfielder Saige Flaugher, Alcona outfielder Jena Wambold, Alcona shortstop Sage Gauthier, Hillman shortstop Cassidy Benac, Rogers City first baseman Kaitlin Nowicki, and Hillman pitcher Gretchen Weiland all earned a Division 4 all-state honorable mention.

These all-state selections were made over two days during the playing of the semifinal games late last week and it is the culmination of nearly three weeks of work by district, region, and all-state Chairs.

The awards will be given out on July 19 during the Senior All-Star game at Davenport University.
