Stay clean to stave off RSV, health care providers say

Health care providers caution parents to protect against RSV, a respiratory virus that has hospitalized many children in the state and elsewhere recently.

The virus spreads via airborne droplets and may be passed through touching a surface with the virus on it and then touching one’s face.

Infants and children with compromised systems are at particular risk of severe illness from the virus, according to MyMichigan Health.

The health system on Friday shared the following tips for protecting children from the virus:

∫ Wash hands with soap and water.

∫ Clean frequently touched surfaces such as doorknobs and cell phones.

∫ Don’t share utensils, cups, etc.

∫ Limit visitors around infants.
