The skate park in Alpena will be closed until further notice to protect user safety, Alpena city officials said on Tuesday.

The ramps at the Water Tower Skate Park have deteriorated to the point that they are unsafe for users, officials said in a press release.

The city is working with several ramp supply companies to obtain the necessary materials and specialized labor, if needed, to make the repairs.
